Kid’s love RC Helicopters! This is a proven fact if you check the top ten toys kids want most. That’s why I consider RC helicopters as gifts for kids at this time of year. Piloting their own RC Helicopter will bring joy and excitement for the kids and you can feel good about introducing a kid to this great RC pastime. Today’s indoor or Micro RC helicopters are great gifts for anyone wanting to fly in any weather. They are great fun on a rainy day and if it’s calm outside, let it go. Nothing beats staying inside while it’s raining or snowing and enjoying your RC helicopter model.
Indoor or Micro RC helicopters are ideal for indoor fun! The dual bonuses are great flights without a need for much space to fly. Micro helicopters are excellent for piloting inside the house; they fly in the smallest places with excellent stability and maneuverability. Whether banking a tight turn, maneuvering from room to room, landing on the kitchen counter or just having a great safe environment, Micro RC Helicopters are worth considering. There are many micro RC helicopters that can be flown indoors. I really dig the Heli-Max Axe CPv3 RC Micro Helicopter, a great choice for both beginners and experts and can be flown indoors or outdoors. Indoor or Micro RC helicopters are light weight and made of durable materials. They are relatively harmless so you don’t sweat crashes as much. Micro RC helicopters are inexpensive and make excellent gifts for any kid disappointed with staying inside during the holidays because of bad weather. Make this holiday special for yourself and a Kid!
If you are looking to fly a fast RC airplane then there is no better choice than RC jets. Sleek and fast these wonders of the sky travel at such high speeds that I do not recommend them to beginning pilots because of the experience factor. RC Jet airplanes are difficult to fly and require help from an experienced RC pilot to get you started. If you are new to flying RC airplanes, then you should start with a electric or nitro powered RC airplane. If you decide to ignore this warning you could badly damage your aircraft. At least start with a RC pusher jet. They are the slowest RC jets and are the simplest to fly. When you have gotten an idea of how to fly RC jets on a pusher type then you can shift to the ducted fan type. Here is a description of the types of RC jet airplanes available for your flying enjoyment.
Pusher RC Jets
Pusher Jets have a propeller in the back that pushes the airplane through the air. There is an easy take off since, they are hand launched and travel at a speed much lower than ducted and turbine fan jets. RC pusher jets can have up to two electric powered pusher props. Some pusher jets are powered by a pusher prop driven by a glow engine. Glow driven pusher jets are capable of achieving some very fast speeds! If you really want a trainer RC jet then the Pusher Jet is for you!
Ducted Fan RC Jets
Ducted fan jets have a high powered fan engine that operates in a duct. This is a very popular type of RC Jet because it is quiet, smooth and super fast. The ducted fan is nothing more than a fan spinning inside of a tube. Ducted fans powered by an electric motor are called EDF’s, electric ducted fans. Ducted fans powered by glow engines are called GDF’s, glow ducted fans. If you are an experienced pilot and looking for a new challenge then get yourself a ducted fan RC jet and take off for new horizons.
Flying Model RC Jets
If you have some experience flying high performance RC airplanes then you can fly model jets! As suggested earlier, if you are a beginner get help from a instructor or experienced pilot at your local flying club or get a Pusher jet
RC Turbine Jets
RC turbine jets are powered by an actual RC turbine! These RC jets burn real aircraft fuel and can reach speeds in access of 200 mph!
Make the right choice and you will benefit with long hours of fun and enjoyment.

When I was a kid one of my fondest memories was walking past the RC Hobby store and looking with whatever time I had at RC helicopters. I don’t doubt that many of you have done the same. The dreams of owning and flying one off the fantastic RC helicopters was only tempered by very limited funds. As has been my fortune in life, a visit from a beloved uncle, a plea for understanding with real tears, caused my dreams to become a reality. I knew little about RC helicopters then but soon realized that my dreams had not been accompanied by a good understanding of what I had purchased. Here are a few pointers for those of you that are dreaming about your own RC helicopter
First all remember this, you’re a beginner, so don’t run off and buy the most expensive RC helicopter thinking, you are right up there with the big boys. Your dream RC helicopter may be the best but you are going crash. Believe me you are going to crash! Good quality RC helicopters, not toy store brands, can be found that are affordable and tough enough to keep you flying. Get as much information as you can before you buy your RC helicopter. Look for RC helicopters that others are flying. Usually this means that you can get spare parts for repairs after that unrecoverable crash! If, you really want to get off to a good start get a RC helicopter simulator software package. With it you can try out a new maneuver without crashing your pride and joy. Advice from people that have experience with RC helicopters can enhance your learning experience and get you off to a good start with your new found Hobby! After you get your helicopter don’t attempt to fly it right away. Yes, I know you are anxious to get started but, you are destined for failure and will crash! “Been there done that!” Have little patients and check out the Internet, for forums on getting started and flying RC helicopters. Ask questions, it’s the best way to learn. Join a flying club if you have one in your area, you get in touch with like-minded folk, who will welcome an opportunity to help you. The bonus is finding a safe place to fly your RC helicopter. You can get RC helicopters in many sizes from tiny little indoor ones (micro), to huge monsters that can reach 7 feet in length. They can be battery powered or fly with a nitro engine. Your decision is to choose which will work best for you and your flying environment. Hint, nitro RC helicopters make noise and I don’t recommend them for beginners and indoor flying!
Always remember that flying a RC helicopter is your dream and you are getting into this hobby for the fun and enjoy it brings. Sometime frustrating but oh, so much fun!
Thinking about buying an RC car for your kids this Christmas? If so, I would suggest that you strongly consider an RC electric cars! I know, you are trying to find some outside activity that you can do together and brings more excitement and learning than that computer or video game. Well, RC electric cars are a good choice for you and the kids since, they offer a way outdoors and both you and the kids can enjoy this wonderful RC hobby past time. Let that tube go! Children love structured activities and an outdoor activity such racing their RC can provide that mechanical structure that your child will value for life. Your kids will be able to participate with other children in competitions or just hang out with their friends for fun. What about starting a kid RC racing club? RC cars are available in two categories; electric cars and nitro cars. RC nitro cars will be a bit much for your kids to maintain and can be expensive to repair. They are noisy (man I love that!), and maintenance can be expensive and time consuming.
RC electric cars on the other hand are favored by beginning and seasoned RC car hobbyist. Originally manufactured as toys, they have been transformed into true speed daemons without the gas. They are available in models with technology improvements that cannot be confused with big box store RC toys models. There are many advantages to purchasing a RC electric car such as being very affordable, easy to maintain (you can get parts for repairs after that big crash), quiet to run in the neighborhood, continued power from rechargeable batteries and best of all affordability! Do yourself and your kids a favor, liven up your lives with an RC electric car
