RC Car Info

Getting ready to order your new RC Car or Truck?  If so consider a RC Quick Charger.  Most RC Cars and Trucks are purchased with a slow battery charger that plugs into a 110 volt wall outlet.  With your purchase of a RC car or truck you will get AA Batteries for the transmitter and charger and a 7.2v battery pack to power the car/truck. After many hours of R/C tire burning action, it was time to get new rear tires for my Traxxas Jato.  This was a challenge, since there are many manufactures with great tires. My fist decision was to choose a set of tires only or get a tires and wheel combo package. After doing my research, I decided on a set of Assembled Traxxas rear tires and wheels made especially for the Jato. This set is great on any terrain and is an excellent multi purpose All-Terrain  combination. I am really satisfied with the set and highly recommend them.

If you need new R/C Tires here are some key things to remember. The wheel or rims on an R/C car or truck consists of the tire, the rim, and possibly a tire insert. Choose the right R/C tires, inserts, and wheels that are best for your driving conditions and activities. If its rock climbing get Ribbed Tire that are designed to handle the rigors of grabbing a footing on rough terrain.  If street or track racing is your thing then get Street Tires  for optimum performance on hard surfaces such as asphalt or concrete. Drift Tires are specially made for drift racing and are composed of rubber and a special resin compound that minimizes the rc drift cars damage to the drift track. If you want longer tire wear then look into Bowtie Tires! I would choose these for a hard packed R/C track. Make the right choice and feel the renewed enjoyment and fun with your favorite R/C vehicle.

Part of good maintenance for your RC vehicles is to make sure that the remote always has fresh batteries and if you’re not using it for a long period time, it would be a good idea to remove the batteries that are in there.  Like any other interest, there’s a certain amount of care that goes into the RC hobby and leaving batteries in the remote may cause battery corrosion.  In that case, here’s how you clean it:

Soapy water on a q-tip. Not too much, don’t want to leave any water behind.
A small amount of baking soda will also help by neutralizing any acid and acting as an abrasive, be sure to remove all of that too.

Sometimes need to scratch up the contact area with a razor blade or file if corrosion is thick.

If it were really messy, you can often remove the circuit board and clean all the parts in ISO alcohol then dry thoroughly then reassemble

I remember my first impressions of my new Megatech Nirvana II, it looked great. I could not wait until my weekend off with two whole days set aside for her peaceful maiden voyage. I had waited a long time to get this jewel and after my first sight and inspection, I was very pleased with this magnificent high performance sailboat. It simply exceeded my expectations and everything I checked out has been right on so far!  No modifications to the electronics compartment were required but I did place a cello sponge cut to size under the area where the sail servo lines come into the compartment. Finally a RC Sail Boat that has a grating so that the battery holder does not sit on the frame of the boat. The receiver is nicely stored in the uppermost area of the compartment port side nearest to the stern. This is a great feature! Megatech includes a new electronics compartment hatch cover with a raised indentation where the sail servo arm arcs in its’ movement. The notes and tip about the best performance and possible wear problems were a plus.

Well my day finally came and I had a most wonderful and relaxing two hours at the lake. I am still learning about this very responsive boat and don’t feel I have mastered the potential of the very forgiving Nirvana II. At the end of my time with this jewel of the water, I was doing some fairly decent upwind tacks…and man can she take off downwind with the right wind and sail trim. Hold on……………………..

For RC newcomers who think that they have purchased a hobby grade RC at their local big box store let me assure that in most instances that’s not the case! I am sorry to inform you that you have probably just selected a toy grade RC. Big box stores don’t offer repair services and parts well that’s out.
